And just like that, they are back! Like clockwork, on the first day of the official sea turtle nesting season, three new nests have appeared on the recently renourished Barefoot Beach in Naples, Florida. The residents of this beachfront community have laid out the welcome mat, by having 40 feet of sand replaced along a 1.4 mile stretch of beach, which had been eroded by last years storms, at their own expense. Based on prior years, we are expecting in excess of 200 sea turtle nest on Barefoot Beach by the end of nesting season this October.
